The
Process
My
sculpted Santas are created individually out of clay.
Great care is given to detail the inclusion of laugh
lines, wrinkles, furrowed brows, moles, and realistic glastic eyes.
Some color is applied, and the faces are baked in
a conventional oven. Everyday people serve as my
models, and there are absolutely no molds or forms
used. Each is an individual work of art; a guaranteed One
of a Kind.
All
of my Santas are assembled in the same fashion. I
begin with a wood frame, over which the head fits
and is screwed into place. This is then mounted on
and securely fastened to a wood base. I then attach
heavy wire arms. The arms and upper body
are wrapped with a combination of quilt batting and
foam. From here I begin the task of dressing them
- choosing either the "woodsy" look, or
regal attire. One Santa will be completely finished
from this point on, so that each gets my full, undivided
attention. The beard and eyebrows are applied after
Santa is dressed, and his glasses and hat are last.
I then concentrate on his accessories, most of which
I make or sew myself.
Each
one of my Santas is a labor of love. My sculpted Santas
are numbered "One of One," personally signed,
and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
